Available on fad.fondazionescuolapatrimonio.it Progettare accessibile, a new training initiative created by the Scuola nazionale del patrimonio e delle attività culturali in co-organization with CNAPPC Consiglio Nazionale Architetti, Pianificatori, Paesaggisti e Conservatori, within the framework of Personeper. Accessibility in Cultural Places, the training plan promoted by the Directorate General for Museums of the Ministry of Culture and funded through the PNRR Culture 4 funds.

34 professionals, experts and technicians, contributed to creating a training path consisting of 3 courses that, over the course of 30 hours redefines the very concept of accessibility, adopting a holistic and relational perspective that places the "person at the center", aiming to stimulate, in designers, a new awareness: to go beyond mere regulatory compliance and embrace the principles of Design for All and co-design methods.

Between case studies and theoretical reflections, the path offers a broad overview of concrete experiences of accessible projects realized in cultural places. The in-depth focus on specific topics, with a practical and applied approach, allows all professionals – both public administration and private – to acquire accessible design skills easily applicable.

The path is aimed, in fact, at architects and designers, staff of the italian Ministry of Culture and personnel of local authorities, and freelance professionals acting as designers working in cultural places, both public and private.

The program

Three courses, distinct but closely connected, together form a complete and integrated vision: starting from theoretical foundations and ethical principles to reach practical application, passing through a fundamental exploration of the role of the person and the community in the creative process.

The course introduces the theoretical and regulatory foundations of accessible design, then explores the meaning of Design for All and participatory design (co-design and social design), deepening cases related to architecture and interiors of public spaces and cultural venues. The course concludes with a focus on emerging criteria and new frontiers of inclusive design.
Speakers include, in order of appearance, Fabio Fornasari and Maria Chiara Ciaccheri, Pete Kercher, Daniela Orlandi, Giulia Allegrini and Valentina Gianfrate, Giulio Ceppi, Erica Isa Mosca, Massimo Facchinetti.

The course invites placing people and their needs at the center of design, beyond any standardization, rediscovering an Italian tradition of design that values ergonomics, the relationship between the individual and the environment, and quality of life.
Speakers include, in order of appearance, Alessandra Ferrari and Azzurra Muzzonigro, Mario Cucinella and Antonella Agnoli, Giulio Ceppi, Mara Bragagnolo and Diletta Cancellato, Flavio Mangione and Mario Barbuto, Avril Accolla, Mario Bisson and Andrea Stella, Manuela Bonaiti and Giulia Menzietti.

The course investigates how the principles of inclusive design, people-based and community-centered design, translate into policies, services, and spaces for all, at different scales, from details to cultural sites to urban spaces, considering every moment of existence: museums, archives, libraries, and archaeological parks represent, in this perspective, the pillars of social life and participation.

After Cultural Accessibility: Principles and Practices, an introductory course, this specialized course contributes to composing the Personeper training offer, which will continue with Welcoming, Accompanying, Telling, a course expressly designed for reception and security staff, Mediating, Telling, Communicating, designed for educational service personnel, collection or heritage managers, communication staff.
