To start
There are many possible interactions between people and cultural heritage, between visitors and cultural sites, between users and services.
There are also many levels of interaction depth: there is an intention, a preparation, a route or journey to the cultural site, then there is the actual experience of visiting or enjoying it, and finally, there is possible active participation that can extend up to co-design.
Through these three lenses—which we have called welcome, experience, participation—we investigate and, through multiple voices, discuss accessibility in cultural sites.
With a dual perspective, we explore these relationships here: from the point of view of those who habitually or occasionally access cultural sites and from the perspective of those who work within cultural organizations to make them accessible.
